Central Coast Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition
John's painting won an award at the Central Coast Watercolor Society annual watercolor exhibit at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art. The show will be on exhibit through July.
Summer Painting Demonstrations
Marsha Rebstock and John will give a joint demonstration to the Cayucos Art Society in August.
August Art Sale of Barnard paintings in Paso Robles
The Paso Robles Art Association will have a sale of many of John's unframed watercolors August 26-29, 2010 at their gallery at Studios on the Park, 1130 Pine Street, Paso Robles. A preview of the paintings with take place August 25, 2010. For tickets and more information please download flyer. John is down sizing his crowded studio. There will be several hundred paintings to chose from.
SLO Plein Air Festival
John has been selected to participate in the 2010 San Luis Obispo Museum of Art's Plein Air Festival to begin on Monday, September 27 through Sunday October 3, 2010.
Open Studios Event

Annual Henry Fukuhara Manzanar Paint-out
John did a demonstration for the Annual Henry Fukuhara Manzanar Paint-out on May 15, 2010. He painted a large watercolor of the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, California.
Art Society-Houston: 33rd International Exhibition
John's painting of Piedras Blancas Lighthouse was on view and received an award at the Art Society of Houston's 33rd International Exhibition held March 6-April 9, 2010. The Juror was Frank Webb.

Paso Robles Art Association Exhibition--Best of Show
John received the Best of Show prize at the December Paso Robles Art Association Art Exhibit. Joanne Ruggles was the Juror.
Mission Community Bank
The Mission Community Bank purchased several large watercolors for their newly remodeled banks in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo. There are about ten paintings in each bank.
San Luis Obispo Art Center
John had twenty watercolor paintings on display at the SLO Art Center during the month of December.
Watercolor West XLI
John was juried into the Watercolor West XLI Annual Juried Exhibition which ran September 12-October 24, 2009 at the Riverside Museum of Art, California.
Kentucky Watercolor Society 32nd Annual National Show
Barnard's painting "Moonstone" was juried into and won the KWS Award/Gallery Street Award/Maker's Mark Purchase Award at the Kentucky Watercolor Society 32nd Annual National Show--Aqueous USA 2009. The Exhibition was held at the Actor's Theatre of Louisville from September 22 until October 24. Ratindra Das was the Juror for the show.
Open Studios

Salon de Refuse
John exhibited a painting in the Salon de Refuse at Seven Sisters Too Gallery in Morro Bay, CA, August 16 through September 15. The Artist Reception was held August 16, 4:30-6PM, 601 Embarcadero.
12th Annual Henry Fukuhara Workshop Exhibition
John exhibited a watercolor called "View from Manzanar" in the 12th Annual Henry Fukuhara Workshop Exhibition August 17-September 26, 2009, at APC Fine Arts & Graphics Gallery, 1621 Cabrillo Ave., Torrance CA. A reception was held August 22, 2009, 1-5 PM.
San Luis Plein Air Festival
John was juried into the San Luis Obispo Plein Air Festival, September 28-October 4, 2009. Friday night there was a ticketed event to preview the paintings created during the week then a Quick Draw and Auction Saturday from Noon to 2:30 PM.

Art in the Adelaida
John will be participating in the Art in the Adelaida--an evening of art & wine, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Halter Ranch Vineyard. The fundraiser benefits the Adelaida Historical Foundation's continuing restoration of the Adelaida School House, the last remaining public building in the Adelaida District.
The event features a Quick Draw painting session from 5-7PM then dinner and a live auction of the quick draw paintings as well as paintings created throughout the year. For tickets please call Halter Ranch, 805-226-9455.
Joebella Coffee Show
John showed four paintings at Joebella Coffee in Templeton, next to Trader Joes. The exhibition featured a coffee theme and ran through August.
Watercolor USA 2009
John was juried into Watercolor USA 2009 Juried Exhibition which ran from June 6 through August 2 at the Springfield Art Museum in Missouri.
Twilight on the Terrace, Hearst Castle—The Inaugural 2009 Plein Air Invitational
June 6, 2009, Hearst Castle Esplanade and Main Terrace, 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Local plein air artists were invited to paint the Hearst Castle for two days. The paintings were exhibited and sold June 6 at the Hearst Castle event, Twilight on the Terrace. Proceeds from the sale of the art funded visual outreach programs at Hearst Castle for underserved youth.

Inaugural Festival of the Arts

Downtown City Park, Paso Robles, CA 93446
A select group of 60 artists displayed their artwork in the festival which included a Quick Draw Paint-off. The Festival took place in the park dowtown Paso Robles. In conjunction with the festival was the "Follow the River, Paint the Dream" Exhibition on display in the new Studios on the Park, 1130 Pine Street, across from the Downtown City Park, Paso Robles. John had three paintings of the river on display in the exhibition.
